Sharen was born and raised in Manchester to a large working class family and is no stranger to hard work. She graduated from the London College of Fashion with a degree in Fashion Design Technology/ Surface Textiles for Fashion.
Since graduating, she has interned at luxury British Fashion Houses as well as competing in and winning international design competitions. Having struggled to secure a job as a designer in London during the recession and feeling disillusioned by materialistic wealth, she moved back to Manchester and discovered a new found love for Meditation and Spirituality. She is combining her childhood passion, and new found love, and sharing it with the world with her Clothing Brand 2412 Raising Vibrations.
Sharen was born and raised in Manchester to a large working class, Sikh, Indian family. She grew up watching her mother make traditional Indian clothes for her and her three sisters whilst her father was busy working long hours and running his own Electronic Business.
Throughout her high school years, Sharen struggled academically due to her server dyslexia however, was very talented at Art. She found herself dedicating her time and energy to her more creative side and knew, from a very young age that she wanted to have the freedom of expression through fashion. She wanted to empower and celebrate the beauty, individuality, and divinity of women all around the world. The hard work paid off when she managed to secure an unconditional place at the prestigious London College of Fashion.
She was inspired by luxury fashion and found British tailoring and historic Victorian traditional costume particularly intriguing, mainly for its military craftsmanship of structure around the body through the manipulation of fabric. She was especially fond of John Galliano, who was renowned for this style of silhouette construction while at the fashion house of Dior, his couture pieces empowered women by enhancing the female form in a sophisticated and elegant way as opposed to exploiting it for the male gaze.
After graduating in 2009, with a BA Hons degree in Fashion Design Technology/ Surface Textiles for Fashion, she went on to intern at two of the most iconic luxury British fashion houses, Alexander McQueen and Burberry. She won international design competitions* for both western and eastern inspired silhouettes gaining her recognition with a leading India fashion house RCKC, who later produced a range of British inspired sari styles for their London based stores.
Despite her achievements, Sharen struggled to find a job in London during the recession and was forced to move back in with her parents in Manchester. Unsure of what to do next, she attended an open day at the Manchester Metropolitan University to do a master’s degree but felt disappointed with what the course had to offer. On her way out she found a leaflet for a one day meditation retreat and it was at that moment that everything she was aspiring to be changed and a new path had unfolded.
“Meditation completely restructured my mind and lifted a veil of falsehood and illusion yet open me up to whole new dimension of self-observation. From taking me on journeys deep into the jungle to being the detached observer of my thoughts, feelings, emotions and the entire world. This brought me into an awareness of infinite paradigm and in turn, I felt a deeper connection to everything. A sense of oneness as if you are the universe projecting itself while having a physical experience as human being, identifying with your surroundings and loved ones. After all, love is the language of the universe and the highest form of vibration that has to be unconditionally embraced to be truly experienced and known.”
All of a sudden, glamorous couture fashion didn’t seem so important to her, but the need to remain in this awareness of consciousness did. She decided to delve deeper into it and found a balance between spiritual and physical by practising yoga. Kundalini yoga not only resonated with Sharens’ Sikh background, but is also an extremely powerful practice as it feeds the awareness at a cellular level. She developed a new found love for her faith through her spiritual experiences of mediation, mantra and yoga.
Sharen is now combining her childhood passion with the things she loves and is sharing it with the world through her clothing brand; 2412:RV. The brand holds true to her vision; empowering women to celebrate their beauty, individuality, and divinity through holistic fashion.
She believes every human being has the right to experience and embrace their own true potential as a spiritual being by raising their vibrations daily & yearly hence 2412 RV. She aims to inspire others to really experience living an awakened life to its fullest.
Kundalini Yoga is known as the Yoga of Awareness.
The primary objective of yoga is to awaken the full potential of human awareness in each individual, clear any inner duality, create the power to deeply listen, cultivate inner stillness and prosper.
Through practicing yoga we awaken the kundalini. This is important as it is it calls upon the full potential of the nervous and glandular system and to balance the subtle system of chakras and meridians within the body.
Kriya is an orchestrated pattern of movements, sounds, pranayama, mudras, concentration and meditation that automatically guide the energy of the body and the mind to a specific result or change of consciousness.
The changes you want to affect in your life happen much more quickly with Kundalini Yoga than many others styles of yoga.
It is a safe way to stimulate the body’s natural resources and to become healthy, happy and wholly in body, mind and spirit. The outcome is a proven path to the Self and the Soul – to an experience of your highest destiny.
Kundalini Yoga practitioners wear natural fibres because they are good for the psyche, for energy levels and for the nervous system.
